Well this is not how I intended it to be...

Do you ever have such good intentions and then "BAM"...things just don't turn out the way you want. This is how I am starting to feel about this blog. Now, let me explain something. I am a teacher that LOVES her job and I really like finding new things and using them. I get excited over the smallest things that some people would not understand. (and if you are one of those people that get it...then you know exactly what I am talking about) I love teaching and especially back to school. I really intended on using this blog to share ideas or things that I have done in my room that I have found great success with. I have decided that I am just going to have to start out small rather than abandon this blog all together. Any hoo, just bear with me as I travel on the blogging journey--I will promise to do better. Love this quote...

"Reading changes your life. Reading unlocks worlds unknown, or forgotten, taking travelers around the world and through time. Reading helps you escape the confines of school and pursue your own education. Through characters- the saints and sinners, real or imagined- reading shows you how to be a better human being"
~Donalyn Miller, The Book Whisperer (p. 18)

The Book Whisper Study Party

I am joining the  The Book Whisperer book study that will begin this week. I had bought my book during the school year and literally couldn't put it down. I look forward to re-reading it and picking up on things that I may have not gotten the first time around. Really pumped about this book study. This is going to be great!

Thinking of Teaching had the opportunity to interview Donalyn Miller, the author of The Book Whisperer and is hosting a linky party to share answers to the questions that Mrs. Miller answered. Here are the questions and my answers...
1) What is your favorite book (or series) from childhood?
My favorite book growing up was Ramona Quimby Age 8. Of course, I LOVED all of the Ramona books, but this was my favorite.

2) What is your favorite book (or series) now?
I find that I read more professional books rather than books for fun. After reading the Book Whisperer the first time, I have tried to make it a goal to read more books that my students read. I am starting this summer with the Florida Sunshine State Book list.

3) What is your opinion of e-readers?
E-readers are are great advance technology...but I am old school and still prefer to have a book in hand.

4) Finish this sentence: "On Sundays I like to..."
do whatever the season calls for. I like to go to the beach in the Summer (with a good book), in the fall I like to find a new professional read to help with my lifelong learning as a teacher. In WInter, I like to curl up with a book in front of the fire or with my favorite blanket. In Spring, I love to sit outside and read in the shade.
5) Describe yourself in 5 words!
Dedicated, Precise, Loving, Loyal, Team Player

6) Hardcover or paperback? Why?
It doesn't matter--either one.

7) Coffee or Tea?

I am not a coffee drinker at all. I love to drink hot tea in the cooler months and cold sweet tea in the warmer months.

If you want to join, link up and join the party!

Here we go...

Today is the first day I have ever even attempted to do a blog. I am excited to document how I teach and the resources that help me succeed. I can not promise that I will "BLOG" everyday, but I will make every attempt to post regularly and post ideas to share.
